The Diego Rivera Gallery of the San Francisco Art Institute proudly presents two concurrent shows, Here—Robert Moya and There—Ferdinanda Florence; both investigate the notions of the completeness/incompleteness and history of space. Both shows will also employ the juxtaposition of large-scale paintings with intimately-scaled works.

Ferdinanda Florence is a Vallejo, CA artist who paints structures such as walls, fences and windows that serve as metaphors for human experience: how we operate within our own mental spaces, and how we interact with others. She is a professor at Solano College and is finishing her MFA in painting at the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI).

Robert Moya, who resides in Los Angeles, is also completing his MFA at SFAI. Robert makes non-objective paintings comprised of three-dimensional surfaces that are a visible history of the process employed in the making of them.

This exhibition will give the two artists a unique opportunity to have an individual show, while sharing a gallery space; through this pairing, work which seems so different on the surface will ultimately reveal a deeper investigation of similar concerns.
